Dr. Suzanne Degelos has been our Lab Director and patient educator for over 22 years. Dr. Degelos is as renowned for her skills as an embryologist as she is for her caring interaction with patients – a rarity in the field. She meets personally with each and every IVF candidate before treatment and founded our Embryology Class both to educate patients and to allow her to speak with each couple and get to know them before treatment. Dr. Degelos believes that the Embryology class not only educates our patients, but also helps them feel more at ease with the IVF process. To Dr. Delegos, this hands-on approach is part of what sets our practice apart. “I love working with my patients.  I do my absolute best to be available for every OB ultrasound for our IVF patients.”

Dr. Degelos has also been responsible for ensuring that our Lab is state-of-the-art, with time-lapse incubators, the LifeAire system, embryo culture incubators, and more. These cutting-edge tools result in higher success rates for our patients. For her, if they didn’t have the best lab possible, they wouldn’t be able to help as many patients build families. “In this field, your clinic revolves around the lab and what it is capable of doing.  If everything isn’t functioning properly or embryos aren’t developing properly because you just can’t afford the absolute top of the line equipment then you are going to suffer in the long run. ”

Dr. Suzanne Degelos received her Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University. She continued her education at LSU and received her Master’s Degree in Reproductive Physiology in 1990 from Louisiana State University. She received her Doctorate in Reproductive Physiology in 1995 from Virginia Tech.

Her research interests are mainly in the areas of testicular thermoregulation and the effect of heat on semen quality and the effect on embryo quality. She has been published in the Journal of Andrology and other professional publications.

She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, American Society of Bioanalysts and American Board of Bioanalysts and several other professional organizations. She serves as a High Complexity Laboratory Director of the Embryology, Andrology and Endocrinology Laboratories. She understands the impact of sperm quality on embryo development.
