A force and a distinguished thought leader in fertility, Dr. George Koulianos founded CRM 30 years ago. As the CRM Medical Director, he is renowned for setting the gold standard in patient care on the central Gulf Coast and ensuring CRM is outfitted with every technological and scientific advantage possible — a direct result of CRM’s higher than average success rates.

Being at the forefront of fertility science and care stems from his extensive education and tireless dedication to the field and to his patients. A continuous learner, Dr. Koulianos is Ob/gyn board-certified, and Fellowship trained in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He leads CRM’s consistent delivery of the best science, technology, medicine, and care by focusing on human compassion and the resolve to help every patient succeed.

Known for his skill and accomplishments as a physician, Dr. Koulianos is also beloved for his bedside manner as he’s not only extremely warm and personable, he’s an avid listener and strives to know each patient and their unique circumstances. Committed to creating relationships and a family-like atmosphere, it is vital to Dr. Koulianos that every patient feels as relaxed and as “at home” as possible.

With a firm belief that CRM has the moral obligation to deliver the highest standards, CRM has become the oldest and largest physician owned and operated fertility program in the Gulf Coast region. With over 9,000 babies being brought into the world through CRM, watching families blossom and witnessing the babies he helped bring into the community become remarkable individuals brings him immense joy.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Dr. Koulianos completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Tulane Medical School and the University of South Alabama. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech Regional Academic Center and graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Prior to founding CRM in 1993, he served as assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Alabama. He is also board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

SIGNIFICANT AFFILIATIONS & ACHIEVEMENTS

His professional accomplishments include winning the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Fellowship for Endocrinology of the Post Reproductive Woman. Dr. Koulianos has authored several book chapters and articles with original research for peer review and presented original research at numerous national and international meetings.

Professional memberships include the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. He served on the Board of Censors of the Medical Society of Mobile County from 2010-2021 and was the President of the Mobile County Health Department from 2010-2011. Notably, during the pandemic, he served as President of the Medical Society of Mobile County where he organized task forces and provided support to medical professionals, nursing homes, clergy, municipalities, and hospitals. He played a vital role in creating a unified medical and community response to the crisis. He served as the President of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama from 2023-2024 and currently serves on the State Board of Medical Examiners.

FUN FACTS

An avid farmer, Dr. Koulianos finds joy and fulfillment spending time on his tractor cultivating the produce he grows on his local farm and cooking for large friend and family gatherings. He also enjoys fishing and traveling with his beloved wife when time permits.

Proud of his Greek heritage, his involvement in various Greek Orthodox organizations further emphasize his servant’s heart. From serving local parishes and being an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople to his participation in the Clergy Family Initiative steering committee where he advocates for the well-being of the clergy, their families, and the unique challenges they face, his deep faith brings him great satisfaction.
