Update: Statement on the CDC’s Health Advisory on COVID-19 Vaccination

Update: New Study Reveals Covid-19 Vaccine Does Not Cause Female Sterility

*** Note: Phone appointments are available for EXISTING patients with insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, and TRICARE/Humana who prefer not to come to an in-person visit.

The health and well-being of our patients and staff is CRM’s highest priority.  Our physician and leadership teams are working diligently to stay informed on the emerging scientific developments and evolving guidance from our local and national leaders in public health regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

With the ongoing spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the speed at which things are changing around us, we are adapting our business operations.  According to the CDC, communities should be prepared for an eventual outbreak of the virus, and have provided guidance to help prevent the spread.  We continually receive updates from the AL and FL Department of Public Health along with the CDC and State Board of Medical Examiners from TX, LA, MS, AL and FL.

What we are doing:

We are dedicated to the health, wellness and safety of both our patients and employees and are taking precautions to help prevent the potential spread of the virus.  In addition to what we routinely do during flu season, we have implemented the following measures within our clinic:

  • Our staff will screen all patients for symptoms such as a confirmed or subjective fever, cough, and shortness of breath on arrival to our office. If you are displaying any of these symptoms, we will request that you reach out to your general health care provider and reschedule your appointment as applicable.
    • We will be checking patient’s temperature at the lobby door and questioning them prior to entering the office.
    • In order to take every precaution and decrease the chance of spread, patients may wait in their cars instead of in the lobby once checked in. We will then notify patients via text or call when we are ready to see you.
    • Our International patients will be screened for symptoms as above, as well as assessed for recent travel to high risk areas or in contact with someone who is suspected or confirmed to have coronavirus.
  • We are committed to help control the spread of COVID-19 by complying with guidance to maximize social distancing. At this time we are offering phone appointments to EXISTING patients with insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, and TRICARE/ Humana who prefer not to come to an in-person visit.  If you would like to change an existing appointment please contact us. (We will add additional insurance companies to this list as things change.)
      • We will also be changing the schedule to reduce the number of patients in the office at any given time.
        • This includes ultrasounds, blood draws, etc.
        • Semen Analysis and IUI collects will be drop off only unless the patient lives outside the 1 hr time restriction.
      • Only one family member or friend will be allowed into the office to accompany you for your appointment.
  • Any staff member that displays any symptoms of confirmed or subjective fever, cough or shortness of breath will be asked to stay at home until further evaluation by a health care provider and full compliance with CDC and return to work guidelines.
  • Increased daily disinfection of frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches and counter-tops.

We thank you in advance. Please visit this CDC  website for more information on actions you can take to plan, prepare and respond to COVID-19

The CRM Difference:

For our IVF patients please note:  our embryology laboratory was the fourth lab nationally to protect your embryos using the LifeAire Systems air purification technology.  Beyond the comprehensive removal of airborne chemical pathogens, all airborne viruses, bacteria and fungi are killed, in a single pass of air, protecting the air quality in our embryo lab and procedure areas.   HEPA filters cannot completely trap tiny viruses so beyond them we have specialized bacterial and viral kill systems in our air purification system.

For the coronavirus specifically, the LifeAire System will destroy the virus in the first pass of air. Sterility is measured by a factor of 10 to the 6th power (106) – that is, of one million micro-organisms, all will be killed but one. For the COVID-19 virus in particular, the LifeAire System provides sterility by a factor of 10 to the 145th power (10145) – a super-sterility system killing all bacteria and viruses in the air in our lab and procedure areas.

Please let us know if we can be of any further help – and please stay safe and well!
