Choosing to pursue single parenthood does not mean you have to do it alone. At The Center for Reproductive Medicine, we will support your journey with the very best science, medicine and compassionate care every step of the way.

Taking that First Step

During your initial consultation, our providers as well as our team of fertility specialists and nurses will begin to get to know you. They will evaluate your reproductive health, assess your fertility and talk to you about your goals. Your physician will develop a customized treatment plan to help you to reach these goals. From this very first step, we will ensure that you have all of the information that you need to make the very best decisions, taking into account your physical, emotional and even financial well-being

Choosing a Sperm Donor

Your treatment plan may require the use of a sperm donor – either a known donor or an anonymous donor. In either case we will help you with the arrangements. We will invite the known donor to come to our center (or another center near him) for testing or will arrange to have the frozen sperm of an anonymous donor shipped to us.

Your sperm donor should be completely screened for genetic issues. Once you approve the results of this screening, the donor’s sperm will be collected and frozen, then quarantined for 180 days until his health is retested.

If using a known donor, we recommend you seek legal counseling in your home state to protect the interests of you, your child and your donor.

Sperm Banks

If you choose to use a sperm bank, we are happy to facilitate this process. We can point you toward accredited sperm banks. Many banks enable you to search for donors by specific attributes, such as height, education, blood type, ethnicity, eye color, etc. Please do not purchase sperm without consulting your physician or nurse, as he or she will need to provide you with preparation information based on your treatment plan.
